School & College
After completing my high school in New Delhi, India ,I decided to go to US for my higher studies. I study at The George Washington University, Washington DC as a junior. I am dual majoring in Finance and International Business, with a minor in Economics.
Inclination towards Startups
I got the startup bug at a very early age of 16, when I founded my first company, Partyhub. It was an online advertising company for events and nightlife, first of its kind, focused on New Delhi. The company received recognition in the early phase and everyone was talking about it. To make it a bit more popular, I managed to get a famous MTV show celebrities to do a photoshoot for me without incurring any costs. But the major problem in India is, it is still a cash economy and plastic money is not at all popular among the age group (17-25) we were targeting. The market was highly unorganized and even though the company was trending, we were not able to find proper channels to generate revenue. And after running it for around a year I decided to shut it down in early 2014 and work on something new.
Investing
My father, Neeraj Kumar Singal, is a member of a few angel networks in the country, mainly Indian Angel Network and Mumbai Angels. He started attending regular meetings and got interested in this ecosystem himself. He was then feeding me with these new startup pitches which were very interesting to study. After seeing investment decks and pitches of over 250 startups from across all segments in the summer of 2015, I understood what goes behind the table among investors. I became accustomed to startup terminologies and how to evaluate a startup.
Since then, I am evaluating, investing and managing investments for my father.
I have deep interest in venture capital and financing and keep exploring new opportunities in the same field.
